The Queenie Award
Since 2005, every December, the staff at Queen Anne Books compile a list of their favorite books from the prior year awarding one book The Queenie. This year’s book may not be such a surprise since we’ve been singing its praises for months. Kathryn Stockett’s lovely novel,
The Help, is our favorite book from 2009. Two honorable mentions to the books which tied for second place: The Children's Book by A.S. Byatt and Await Your Reply by Dan Chaon. Check out the rest of our Top Ten picks.

The Surrendered

This is a beautiful, compelling, heart-breaking book. I love Lee’s writing (see his previous, and completely different, novel Aloft) and it really shines in this story of damaged souls finding each other and maybe finding a speck of healing.
